It's with mixed emotions that I say goodbye to my online "office" and amazing career that has been my passion for the last 10 years.
In 1999 I launched my coaching business – as one of the first life coaches in Canada, and despite the skepticism many had about this "uncharted profession", I always knew I would find success in it. It just felt "right".
This path has been anything but predictable and at times, incredibly challenging. I've been tested and stretched, and my business has evolved in ways I never would have initially anticipated. It’s been an unbelievable ride, and grateful doesn't seem like a big enough word to capture how I feel about this unique career that found me.
To the many that continue to visit online, thank you for spending some of your valuable time with me. To the hundred's I have had the pleasure of personally connecting with, and have willingly shared a part of their journey, I won't forget you. It's easy to live day-to-day in the comfort and safety of what has always been. It's hard to reach beyond that, and decide to stand for more than you once were. I commend you for your courage and I’m glad I had the opportunity to witness, and play a part in your growth. It's been a privilege to see you shine!
For me, change is about standing where others haven’t stood. Innovation and taking the road less travelled is a big part of who I am which is why it’s time to move on. A new adventure is waiting.
When I reflect on what I've learned over the past ten years, I think I can sum it up to this:
Happiness is often found in the simple things, and always in the selfless acts. Learning to stay true to your (empowering) inner voice - no matter how difficult honouring its wisdom might seem - is the best gift you can give yourself and those you love. Never betray your heart or someone else's. Realize that we are all here to learn, and develop for different reasons – trying to control choices, feelings and actions of another person is a waste of your precious time. You are responsible for your destiny not theirs. Be loyal and trustworthy so others will want to return the valued gesture. Always remember you teach people how to treat you – respect yourself first. You are worthy! And with the right mix of support, passion, dedication, and hard work, dreams really do come true!
I wish you well.Lisa Holba
